Dmitry Patrushev: The introduction of gas-powered power plants at agricultural enterprises will reduce the cost of agricultural products.

08 December 2025
At a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, the progress of the Ministry of Agriculture and PJSC Gazprom's pilot project to introduce stationary gas-powered power plants with internal combustion engines at agricultural enterprises was discussed.

This technology is primarily used for autonomous power supply to greenhouses, livestock farms, and processing facilities. In-house power generation by agricultural enterprises significantly reduces electricity and heat costs, ensures high-quality, uninterrupted power supply, and increases capacity.

Over 50 power plants will be installed during the first stage of the pilot project. The list of participating enterprises will expand as early as 2026.

"Initial experience has shown that farmers' electricity costs are reduced by up to 50%. This directly impacts pricing, helping to reduce the cost of agricultural products. The total annual savings for project participants are estimated at one billion rubles. “Therefore, it makes sense to replicate this practice among more companies, especially since government support measures are available for this,” noted Dmitry Patrushev.

Concessional lending is available to support this initiative, including through the state program “Comprehensive Development of Rural Areas.” Starting next year, additional support will be available for the purchase of such units under the new federal project “Development of Small Agribusiness.” Up to 60% of the cost of the gas turbine unit will be reimbursed.
