Electricity for industry in the Far East may rise in price by 22%

22 January 2026
Wholesale electricity prices in the ECO of the East at the beginning of 2026 updated the highs several times. According to the Market Council, by the end of 2026, the price on the market for the day ahead may increase by 12% year—on-year to 3.4 rubles / kWh, and the final price for industry — by 22%.

Large industrial consumers in the Far Eastern Federal District expect an increase in single-rate wholesale prices by about 33%. For 11 months of 2025, the single-quote price in the Far East amounted to 2,884 thousand rubles./MWh. In January 2026, the supply price on January 15 reached 4,406 thousand rubles per MWh.

Key factors of RSV price growth:
  • Reduction of HPP output at high consumption levels.
  • An increase in the price limit in TPP applications.
  • The growth of electricity consumption in the ECO of the East increased by 4.4% in 2025.
Since January 1, the share of freely sold hydroelectric power generation in the Far East has increased from 2.5% to 22%. Starting in 2027, the share of free sales will reach 40%, then it will grow by 20 percentage points per year: to 60% from 2028, to 80% from 2029 and to 100% in 2030.

The Ministry of Energy and the Market Council note that the current price dynamics reflect a structural shortage of capacity and a seasonal decrease in HPP output. Analysts point out that without the introduction of new dispatchable capacities and the development of competition, price increases will persist.
