Data center and mining: increasing load on the Russian energy system

In 2025, the total capacity of networked data centers and mining facilities in Russia reached 4 GW, which is 33.3% more than in 2024 (≈3 GW). The data is provided by the "System Operator".
 
The share of data centers and mining in the total electricity consumption of the Russian Federation is about 2%:
  • mining provides the bulk of energy — intensive computing;
  • The capacity of "useful" data centers in Russia is estimated at 1.7 GW.
 
According to the government's forecast, by 2030, the energy consumption of data centers will grow at least 2.5 times — up to 2.5 GW.
 
The direction of data center and mining is presented in a special exhibition within the framework of the Heat&Power exhibition.
