The modernization project of the Saki TPP should become a standard project for other constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Such a proposal was expressed by the participants in the meeting of the expert council, which discussed the question "On the implementation of the resolution of the Federation Council regarding the implementation of investment projects providing for the modernization of Simferopol, Kamysh-Burun and Saki TPPs," the press service of the Senator from Crimea Olga Kovitidi reports.
“The meeting participants noted the high level of innovative developments in the field of heat and power supply in the Crimea. According to them, Crimea is actively developing, in particular, the modernization project of the Saki TPP should become a standard project for all constituent entities of the Russian Federation, given the comprehensive approach to the combined production of electric and thermal energy implemented in it” the report said.
According to the senator, the modernization of the CHPP ensures energy security, which is an essential component of national security as a whole. “The maneuverability of domestic gas turbine units can guarantee a uniform initial regulation of the frequency and voltage level in the network, which will have a significant impact on more energy-efficient and energy-saving operation of both adjacent regional energy systems and the unified energy system of the Russian Federation,” the press service quoted Kovitidi as saying.
The senator emphasized that the modernization of the stations leads to a decrease in the total consumption of natural gas for the production of electric and thermal energy in comparison with similar generating facilities operating in the steam-power cycle. Reducing gas consumption has a positive effect on the environmental load, as well as on the tariff component in terms of the production of electric and thermal energy for the final consumer.
It was previously reported that the modernized Saki TPP is being prepared for launch at full capacity. The launch will be made after receiving permission from Rostekhnadzor. The construction of the Saki TPP was carried out in two stages. The first phase began to supply energy to the Crimean electric grid in October last year. The readiness of the second phase of construction was reported in December 2018. The project cost is 14 billion rubles.
