Viessmann's new MatriX Plus burner: greener and more efficient

Viessmann introduced the new MatriX Plus burner, which reduces fuel consumption thanks to a modulation range of 1:17, as well as maximally precisely regulates heat production depending on current needs. The novelty has automatic combustion control and produces 40% less NOx emissions. The burner is installed as standard on Vitodens 200 condensing boilers up to 32 kW.

MatriX Plus provides a stable flame of optimum intensity and, as a result, the most accurate regulation of heat production depending on current needs. Automatic modulation in the range of 1:17, unlike outdated two-stage systems, smoothly regulates the burner flame intensity, adapting to the temperature requirements in the heating circuit, which constantly change depending on external factors. This ensures efficient gas consumption and reduces heating costs for the boiler owner, and the efficiency of the unit reaches 98% (H s).     

                                                        

The integrated Lambda Pro Plus combustion control system independently determines the type of gas and is configured to work with it. When switching, for example, to liquefied gas or methane, it is not necessary to rebuild the heating system, open the gas pipeline and reconfigure the equipment. The smart burner will independently perform the necessary actions to ensure further efficient operation. The ability to deeply modulate the power of the device allows you to reduce the clock frequency of the equipment to a minimum - as you know, up to 90% of failures occur precisely because of the high frequency of switching on.

Adaptive combustion control gives the boilers equipped with MatriX Plus one more important quality - high environmental friendliness. “According to the European standard EN 483, which was introduced in 2000, the maximum emission of nitric oxide by a burner of a heating boiler can be 250 mg / kWh. At MatriX Plus, this indicator is only 21 mg / kW⋅h. It produces 40% less nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere compared to previous models, ”says Igor Koenig, head of the Viessmann Academy in Russia.

All the described properties of the MatriX Plus system are calculated and modeled using the most advanced CAD tools. Even the perforation of a stainless steel cylindrical burner at the exit of the flame is the result of a high-tech calculation: the unique pattern and location of the holes provide 40% more efficient operation compared to the previous generation of MatriX torches equipped with wire mesh.

An important property of the MatriX Plus system is the ability to adapt to the length of the chimney (up to 25 meters) and the geodetic height. The burner automatically adjusts its operation, compensating for possible power losses. The built-in adaptive partial load function ensures reliable operation during storms, strong winds and other adverse weather conditions.

Separately, it is worth noting that MatriX Plus (up to 35 kW) has a single ignition electrode and only one, quite compact, standard size of the burner body. Due to this, the height of the heating unit is reduced by 12.5% ​​- the size of the new Vitodens 200 in this parameter is 700 mm.

MatriX Plus saves space not only in the boiler house, but also in the warehouse. Service and installation organizations no longer need to provide a supply of burners of different sizes, as, for example, in the case of hemispherical MatriX, including three sizes, each of which is suitable only for a specific type of boiler. Thanks to the unification of MatriX Plus, inventory costs will be significantly reduced.

The new MatriX Plus burner was developed taking into account current needs of equipment users, installation organizations, and modern requirements for heating boilers. Therefore, the maximum number of processes is automated and simplified:

• automatic control of the burner flame intensity in the range of 1:17;
• automatic determination of the type of fuel and adaptation of the burner to it;
• automatic adaptation to the length of the chimney (up to 25 meters) and geodetic height;
• adaptive partial load;
• unified compact burner size;
• ease of installation and maintenance.

The new generation of Vitodens 200 boilers with the MatriX Plus intelligent burner will be available in Russia from September 2019.
