A boiler room based on industrial heat generators Viessmann at the Liskinsky city dairy plant in the Voronezh region has been operating for 17 and a half years. Two three-way high-pressure boilers capable of operating on both fuel oil and gas have been in operation since March 2002 and provide steam for a food processing plant that processes 250 tons of milk per day.
The average industrial boiler has a service life of 10 years, but the TURBOMAT-RN-HD heat generators, on the basis of which the Liski boiler plant was designed, used solutions that allowed them to work at least twice as long. «The special feature of these units is the increased smoke tubes and passages between them and the boiler shell, as well as increased water filling», - explains Alexey Tuleninov, head of the engineering support team at Viessmann, a leader in innovation in the field of heating: «All this provides reduced gas resistance, good natural circulation. As a result, reduced heat loads in the design of the boiler unit and an increase in the nominal life of the heat generator up to 20 years».
Two 14-ton Viessmann units installed at the dairy plant have a water filling of 11,600 liters each and a large area of the evaporation mirror - this ensures high quality steam, which each boiler produces 5 tons per hour. Heat generators are operated around the clock in different modes: both at the same time, with switching on alternately after 4-10 days (depending on the season).
«Over the course of 17 and a half years of operation, we have not revealed any serious comments on the equipment»,- said Vladimir Efremenko, head of the boiler house of GMZ Liskinsky LLC. «There is a slight decrease in productivity compared to the initial efficiency of boilers, which ranges from 89 to 91%. In addition, the fittings of the water-indicating glass units were worn out, the burner flame sensors were out of order, and when the steam extraction ceased in the reduced minimum mode, the pressure continued to increase in the boiler. For the rest, the equipment works as usual, every year it undergoes maintenance and continues to fulfill its functions».
To ensure that maintenance does not take a lot of time and does not require increased costs, the boiler has a water-cooled burner mouth and large doors for cleaning. A retractable burner trolley and an accessible walkway at the top of the boiler also serve these purposes.
It remains to add that uninterrupted operation for 15–20 years for high-power Viessmann boilers is more a rule than an exception. Heat generators from the TURBOMAT line have been supplying heat to the Rus sanatorium in Sochi for two decades, they have been working at the Troy-Ultra juice and mineral water production plant and in the ice palace in St. Petersburg for more than 15 years.
At the moment, the successors of TURBOMAT are models of Vitomax boilers, which have absorbed all of Viessmann's accumulated experience in the design and operation of industrial equipment.
